The lazy, hazy days of summer are certainly the best (unless you factor in the flies, but let’s just forget about the flies)! Our calves are growing, the shop addition is coming along, and our little family just grew by 4 paws! We might be ridiculous, but the girls have been begging for a dog to stay in the house with them (our farm dog, Shiloh, prefers the barn – he takes his farm dog role very seriously). Since we did the new hardwood floor remodel, we caved and let them pick out a low-shedding puppy: a cockapoo! They are so in-love (and sleepy-eyed from the mid-night awakenings, but let’s forget about that LOL). We’re hoping this little puppy is a lesson in compassion, love and responsibility!
Speaking of the puppy, we got her from a sweet farm in PA! They have a few more cockapoo puppies recently born, so if you’re in the market, I recommend this sweet family! These puppies are expected to be 15-20lbs and low or non-shedding!
If you follow along our Instagram stories, you likely saw more updates on the development of a gelato base. Wow, what a learning curve! I’m not completely thrilled with our gelato as of yet, and I think an investment in a fancier commercial gelato machine is in our future ($$$$$) to perfect the texture. But either way, gelato has now become a real challenge for me, so I’m committed to bringing you this fantastic milk treat, stay tuned!
BBQ at Mechanistic Brewing! I love this family (and dog!) friendly space in downtown Clarion, and we’re definitely taking advantage of the beautiful weather this weekend to enjoy some family time and delicious beer + BBQ at Mechanistic Brewing! They have outdoor games (corn hole!) and tons of board games for kids and family, and a food truck most weekends. It’s a super fun weekend spot 🙂
Back to our sweet calves 🙂 Kimberly of Kimberly Groll Photography has put together a sweet idea: kids + calf photographs! If you’ve wanted a professional farm photo of your kiddos, this is going to be a sweet event here at our farm! Get your kids photographed with Carl and Aurora! Contact Kimberly for more information and dates!
Zucchini season is here! I think all Pennsylvanians look forward to summer garden’s bounty, but especially zucchini! We eat it grilled and in lots of dinner dishes, but my favorite way to enjoy zucchini, hands down, is grated and lightly sweetened in zucchini bread. It’s a master trick to get kids to eat zucchini, too! Here’s my favorite recipe, definitely worth a try!
